GASPRO SXT™ THREE-WAY RICH BURN CATALYTIC CONVERTER

FOR NATURAL GAS, PROPANE AND GASOLINE FUELDED SPARK IGNITION ENGINES

THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM:

Spark ignition engines produce a number of toxic gases in each combustion chamber during normal operation. These toxic gases include: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC) and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx). State and Federal agencies require that these toxic gases be regulated to minimal levels. To minimize these toxic gases and comply with current regulations, equipment owners and operators must incorporate rigorous engine maintenance programs and invest in new state of the art engine technology. However, these positive steps may not result in compliance with State and Federal regulations.

THE PRACTICAL SOLUTION:

The GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converter is capable of minimizing the toxic gases associated with engine operation, the use of GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters enables equipment operators to comply with all State and Federal regulations. Ease of installation and reliable operation can be expected by using GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters. The GASPRO SXT™ incorporates a catalyst coating applied on a metallic honeycomb structure. The catalyst coating drastically increases the rate of chemical reactions without being consumed during these reactions. The major chemical reactions which minimize these gaseous pollutants are as follows:

FOR OXIDES OF NITROGEN (NOx): NOx + CO —› N2 + CO2

NOx + H2 —› H2O + N2

FOR CARBON MONOXIDE (CO): CO + O2 —› CO2

FOR HYDROCARBONS (HC): H2 + O2 —› H2O

HC + O2 —› CO2 + H2O

Oxide of Nitrogen are minimized by a reduction reaction in which oxygen is removed from the chemical reaction. Hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide are minimized by an oxidation reaction in which oxygen is added to the chemical reaction. The net result is that Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbons and Oxides of Nitrogen emissions can be converted into relatively harmless Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide and water by up to 98%.

TECHNICAL FEATURES OF GASPRO SXT™ CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:

1) HIGH EFFICIENCY CATALYTIC COATING

GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters feature a high quality Platinum-Rhodium coating which is very carefully distributed upon a uniform high porosity washcoat. The Platinum-Rhodium precious metal coating and washcoat are evenly dispersed onto a metallic alloy core. The net results are high efficiency non-selective catalytic reactions which lead to very low exhaust emissions. Pollutant conversion efficiencies in excess of 98% can be expected when used in conjunction with recommended air/fuel ratio controllers.

2) SUPERIOR THERMAL AND PHYSICAL STRENGTH

GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters are constructed of high temperature tolerant, corrosion resistant stainless steel alloys. Thick stainless steel alloy retainers are used to provide support and stability for the inlet and outlet faces of the metallic core. The effects of high thermal shock and severe vibration are minimized. The larger model GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters (Models 12 SXT and higher) feature inlet flow diverters for even exhaust flow distribution and improved operating efficiency.

3) LOW EXHAUST GAS RESTRICTION

GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters feature high strength, ultra-thin metallic core walls which impose a minimal exhaust gas restriction during operation. Even under high load/speed conditions the average engine operating efficiency is barely affected. Under normal circumstances the exhaust gas backpressure restriction will be in the order of 6.0” to 9.0” water gauge (depending on exhaust gas temperature).

4) LOW MAINTENANCE AND EASY INSTALLATION

GASPRO SXT™ catalytic converters are designed for ease of installation and maintenance with minimal equipment downtime. A large variety of inlet/outlet cone termination configurations (NPT Male/Female pipe, ANSI Flanges, Tube O.D., etc.) are available.
